Leadership Conference: Entrepreneurship – from the Schumpeterian Hero to the Critical Process

The conference is divided in two sections. Firstly, Martin revisits Joseph Schumpeters momentous article “Creative Responses in Economic History” from 1947 and discusses some of the recent theoretic debates including the criticism of the “the hero entrepreneur”. The emphasis on entrepreneurship as “a collective process” rather than “an individual act” will be illustrated by examples from Danish shipping.

In the following section Martin presents the development of Danish capitalism from the 1850s to 2020s using a theoretic framework inspired by the American economic sociologist Neil Fligstein and again, with plenty of business examples in particular from the maritime sector.
