Baltic Exchange: Freight & Commodities Forum – 12 April

The Baltic Exchange is the world’s only independent source of maritime market information for the trading and settlement of physical and derivative shipping contracts. Our international community of over 600 member firms encompasses the majority of world shipping interests and commits to a code of business conduct encapsulated in the motto our word our bond. Baltic Exchange members are responsible for a large proportion of all dry cargo and tanker fixtures as well as the sale and purchase of merchant vessels. The Baltic Exchange is headquartered in London, with regional offices in Singapore, Shanghai and Athens. In November 2016, the Baltic Exchange was acquired by Singapore Exchange (“SGX”), bringing together complementary strengths of Singapore and London, two of the world’s most important maritime centres.

BIMCO Networking Reception – 11 April

Gard: Charterers & Traders Seminar – 9 April

Gard’s creation and evolution are closely linked to the development of the modern shipping and insurance industries. Founded in Arendal in Norway to underwrite only the P&I risks of sailing vessels, it soon widened its remit to accept steamships and tankers – and then expanded into the offshore energy and hull and machinery markets. It is now the largest marine insurer in the world, and is able to offer shipowners and operators, shipyards, contractors and oil companies a breadth and choice of products not available anywhere else in one place.

IACS Roundtable – 9 April

Dedicated to safe ships and clean seas, IACS makes a unique contribution to maritime safety and regulation through technical support, compliance verification and research and development. More than 90% of the world’s cargo carrying tonnage is covered by the classification design, construction and through-life compliance rules and standards set by the twelve Member Societies of IACS. IACS is a not for profit membership organisation of classification societies that establish minimum technical standards and requirements that address maritime safety and environmental protection and ensures their consistent application. It carries out this responsibility through its panels, expert groups and project teams and provides a Quality System Certification Scheme (QSCS) that its Members comply with, as an assurance of professional integrity and maintenance of high professional standards. IACS is recognized as the principal technical advisor of IMO.



IBIA Dinner – 11 April

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) is the voice of the global bunker industry and represents all stakeholders across the industry value chain. ReCAAP ISC Piracy and Sea Robbery Conference – 9 April

The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) is the first regional government-to-government agreement to promote and enhance cooperation against piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. The ReCAAP Agreement was launched in November 2006 with14 Asian Contracting Parties including North, Southeast, and South Asian countries. It has 20 Contracting Parties today, including Europe (Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom), Australia, and the United States. The ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) was established in Singapore on November 29, 2006. At the 12th Governing Council Meeting in 2018, the Council announced that ReCAAP ISC has met the criteria to be a Centre of Excellence for information sharing in combating piracy and armed robbery against ships at sea.
