14th Singapore Maritime Lecture

The Singapore Maritime Lecture (SML) is a signature event at the annual Singapore Maritime Week, a week-long gathering of the international maritime community to advance industry issues and exchange ideas. SML has been brought online for 2020 and kicks off the “Maritime Perspectives” webinar series, which gathers experts and industry leaders to share their insights on digitalisation, decarbonisation and trade in a disrupted world.

About the webinar:

COVID-19 started as a public health crisis but has since developed to become an unprecedented “crisis of a generation”. The pandemic has had a multi-dimensional impact on the global economy, geopolitics, social and cultural norms, all of which have bearing on the maritime industry. The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has forecast global trade to fall by 13% to 32% in 2020.

Our keynote speaker Mr Ravi Menon, Managing Director from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will share macro perspectives on trade and supply chain shifts due to the changes brought about by COVID-19.

The keynote speech will be followed by a panel discussion, with insights from Mr Menon, Mr Wan Chee Fong (Regional CEO of Middle East South Asia & Head of Business Development, PSA International) and Mr Steve Saxon (Expert Partner, McKinsey) on how the industry can rally together to tap on new prospects amidst disruption in global supply chains.
